Cannabinoids: The Keys To Unlock Wellness

If you were to ask, most people have no idea of the great importance the Endocannabinoid system plays in keeping your body healthy. So, if you've been wondering why and how CBD works to benefit the body, today is your lucky day to get the answer!

What is the Endocannabinoid System?

The endocannabinoid system is complex and would be difficult to describe in a few words. However, the important take away is that the human endocannabinoid system (ECS) is responsible for managing balance (homeostasis) within the body and repairing damaged cells.

Think of the ECS system as the "power grid" which feeds power to all of the body's other systems. It affects and regulates bodily processes such as mood, immune response, metabolism, appetite and more.  This system has two critical components, the first are the endocannabinoid receptors, CB1 and CB2 which are found on the surface of cells located throughout the entire body. Imagine these receptors as "locks".

The second component of this system are the endocannabinoids, the signaling molecules which interact with the receptors. Think of these molecules as the "keys" which fit into the locks to activate the ECS system.

Our bodies produce our own endocannabinoids which interact with the cannabinoid receptors or "locks".  However, the levels of these endocannabinoids will fluctuate due to factors such as poor diet, lack of sleep, environmental polutants, medications, and stress.  As you can imagine, most people are suffering from at least one if not all of these factors which keep the body from operating at its full potential.

In order to bridge the gap, it is phytocannabinoids (plant based) such as CBD, which play the role of enhancing and supporting optimal functionality of the endocannabinoid system.

Once CBD or other cannabinoids are ingested, the cannabinoid receptors are activated.  Research suggests that supplementing the endocannabinoid system with non-psychoactive cannabinoids, it is possible to improve overall well-being.

Now you know the importance of the ECS and why supplementing with CBD can be of great benefit to keeping you healthy...naturally! If you haven't already started supplementing, why not get started today with our world class line of CBD tinctures, softgels, gummies and salves?
